Updated: Dec 30, 2022

I’m very excited to introduce my first guest writer today: Wendy Dessler is a super-connector with Outreachmama, who works to connect bloggers and businesses online. She is currently working with Uni Baggage. Note that I don’t benefit from any of the links below, other than having the pleasure of working with Wendy, and providing my readers with some great ideas on what to do if you’re still looking to make vacation plans this year. So with that said, over to Wendy!

Summer is winding down, and school is back in session. If you are working – there must be some days off left, and if you are student – use holidays wisely! The fun for the year is nowhere near being finished. There are a lot of fun things left to do! We will list a few for you. So grab that luggage, pack yourself smart, and get ready to go! There is plenty of time!

Village Halloween Parade – New York, New York

The city of New York closes down 6th Avenue on October 31 every year for the biggest, craziest, and wildest Halloween parade and party you can imagine. This is the 44th year of the festival! There is not an official theme this year but costumes are expected. If you are not in costume you can volunteer to be a marshal or a puppeteer.

This is the nation’s only night parade. It has won national awards and even grants. In a city of 8.3 million people, it’s one huge deal. For more information click here.

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, 2017

In Albuquerque from October 7th – October 15th the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta will take place. This annual event is thrilling, beautiful, and packed with things to do. The hot air balloons in every shape, size, and color you can imagine will fill the sky and will be seen for miles around. People prepare their balloons all year to participate in this exciting event. Throughout the week there are light shows, laser shows, chainsaw carving contest, competitions, and fireworks.

People come from all over the world to participate in this event. You can camp or use your RV if you don’t want to make hotel reservations. But you better hurry. This looks to be a great year for the Fiesta.

Austin City Limits Music Festival, Austin Texas

October 6-8 & October 13-15

You will not find anywhere on the planet with the lineup of superstars that will be performing at this annual event. You can come for one day or 3 days. Buy your tickets online, there will be music of every type and style that will rock the world. Check here for a list of entertainers that will be performing at this massive event. There are general admission tickets, VIP, or even Platinum! The entire city will be ready for the thousands of visitors. The area has been expanded to handle the fans. Food trucks, restaurants, hotels, RV parks, and everyone else is ready for this event. You do not want to miss it. There are also going to be events for children in the kiddie park and wristband days. You have got to check this out! By the way, if you are a student or member of the military, bring your id for a special discount!

We have only mentioned three of the major events that are coming soon. With the holidays right around the corner, you can bet there are tons more. Hit the slopes in Colorado for skiing, attend the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Go to the national tree lighting ceremony in Washington D.C. or rent a chalet in the Smoky Mountains. There are plenty of events to keep you busy before the new year arrives. So keep that luggage ready to go and end your year in style.
